The Guest Journey

What to expect during your placement:

  • When you arrive, your host will let you settle. You should soon receive a welcome card and welcome email from us at Hope at Home which contains important information.
  • We will contact you a few days later to check you are settling in well and make sure your placement has started well. We’ll ask you some questions about how you are doing and discuss any ways we may be able to help.
  • You will be contacted by our Move-On Coordinator, who will be helping you whilst in placement, to work towards your move on plan. You will meet or have calls with this Hope at Home team member regularly, so they can help you with your next steps.
  • Your host and one of the Hope at Home team will check in with you about your placement too and chat with you about how you are doing.

What to expect as your placement ends:

  • Placements are short term and temporary so you’ll be spending time during your placement to work towards where you will be moving to when your placement ends.
  • We can help provide letters and evidence to help support your move on if you or your support worker need it.
  • We, with your host, will confirm your end of placement date, and you will work with our Move on Coordinator and your support worker to arrange the plans for your move on.
  • We will contact you just before, or after your placement ends so you can tell us any feedback you have about your placement.
  • Many hosts and guests keep in touch with each other after a placement has finished, so if you would like to, please keep us updated on how you are doing.

There were lots of us in the safehouse.
I was frightened there. When I came here,
I was comfortable, I could sleep.
