By accepting of an offer of accommodation from Hope at Home, the guest agrees to the following conditions.

  1. The guest has no legal right to stay at the host’s house and agrees to leave if the host requests it. When possible, hosts will give advance notice of a request to leave. There is no guarantee that Hope at Home will find alternative accommodation.  The guest understands that hosts may need to write a formal eviction letter in order for them to move on.
  2. Guests will engage with their support worker and actively pursue their move on plan.
  3. The guest will abide by all house rules set by their hosts (see House Rules below).
  4. The guest will attend any meetings arranged with the host and / or Hope at Home.
  5. The guest accepts that, if required to do so by an official of the state, Hope at Home and /or hosts may have to disclose details of their address. In other circumstances, the Project will respect guests’ right to confidentiality as per the Hope at Home Confidentiality Policy.

House Rules

The following issues should be discussed at the introductory meeting and any comments added:

Example: We have a digital lock on the front door and our guest will have their fingerprint registered to it so will not need keys. The guest must make sure they leave the front door locked by lifting up the handle when they go out. There is also an alarm that will need to be set when no one is in the house.
Example: Guests can go out whenever they choose but must let us know if they are staying out late.
Example: For cooked meals, use of the kitchen is available but they can also share our meals. If using the cooker, please try to avoid using at the same time as other house members. We will make a space available in the kitchen to store food should it be needed.
Example: Guests are welcome to join us watching TV in the living room if the guest wants to watch their own TV programme we ask that they do so in their room. We can supply a TV or computer to watch on if the guest doesn’t have one. The guest can use the dining room table.
Example: The guest will have access to the middle bathroom whenever they want which includes a bath, shower toilet and sink. We ask that its cleanliness is maintained. The kids use it in the morning and evening to brush their teeth so we ask that at those times they are given access.
Example: Use of phones on request. We are happy to use the computer on guest’s behalf. Timing of use of washing machine and dryer should be agreed with hosts.
Example: To be used in own room. Please do not leave heated items on the floor or bed.
Example: The house is centrally heated so portable heaters should not be needed. But if guests are cold then they can be used but not left on continually.
Example: There is a wardrobe, tall shelving unit, under bed draws and bedside cabinet all supplied.
Example: Smoking is permitted outside only. Please dispose of all cigarette ends in an outside bin.
Example: We drink moderately and are happy to share with others but please do not help yourself.
Example: X wakes up at 6:30 for school, the rest of the family wake up at 7:30. The kids go to bed before 9pm and adults around 11pm. We ask that the guest doesn’t make noise that may wake people up during sleep hours.
Example: Guests are responsible for keeping their own room tidy and washing bedding. There is a cleaner once a week who will clean the guests room.
Example: There are two cats who are well behaved.
