About the role
Our current Chair is due to step down and we are looking for an experienced, ambitious, and compassionate chair to assist in taking Hope at Home through the next stage of growth and development.
Location: Remote
Salary: Unpaid role, expenses paid
Hours: Voluntary, 3 half days plus an overnight meeting with dinner i.e. once per quarter
Who are we?
At Hope at Home, we believe that the survivors of modern-day slavery and human trafficking deserve nurturing and supporting in order to find dignity and rebuild their lives. Supportive hosts and a stable home are a perfect setting for developing independence and resilience. We work with referral agencies and hosts to facilitate a voluntary, adult to adult living arrangements between hosts and survivors exiting safe houses. We work in partnership with agencies that support our guests and Hope at Home supports our growing number of awesome hosts around the UK. We believe that everyone deserves the chance to find a hope and a future.
Hope at Home has a remote based staff team of 6 situated across the UK.
Our vision is that by 2030, we will ensure that every survivor of modern slavery in the UK has a safe place to live.
Our mission is to see an end to the cycle of human trafficking in the UK, restoring dignity to and helping to rebuild the lives of survivors.
Overview of Role
The role of the Chair is to provide leadership and direction to the board of Trustees. The Chair’s aim is to enable the board to fulfil their responsibilities for the overall governance and strategic direction of Hope at Home.
The Chair will ensure that Hope at Home complies with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations, and make sure that the organisation pursues its objects as defined in its governing document.
The Chair’s role is also to work in partnership with the chief executive and support the employees, helping them achieve the aims of the organisation; and to optimise the relationship between the board of Trustees and the staff.
